Families Moving Forward (FMF) is a new program at Just-A-Start Corporation (JAS) funded by the City of Cambridge’s Community Benefits Advisory Committee.    The goal of FMF is to empower 25 families to improve their financial and housing stability and health over a three year period.  The program will use a mobility mentoring model inspired by EMPath.  Matched savings and participant incentives for reaching goals are part of the model.  JAS is the lead agency of FMF working in partnership with the Cambridge Housing Authority, the Cambridge Health Alliance, the Institute for Health and Recovery, Cambridge Family and Children’s Service, and the Community Action Agency for Somerville.  Mobility Mentoring training will be provided and the expected start date is March to April 2020.  This is a part-time position, approximately 30 hours per week and includes benefits.

Coach and work in partnership with participants as they work to increase their financial and housing stability and health (including behavior and mental health) over three years.  The Mobility Mentor will be part of a team rolling out this new program from the beginning, including assisting in recruiting the participants.  Assist and support participants in breaking down goals into manageable steps, overcoming barriers, and problem-solving.  Work with participants with tools such as an EMPath-inspired Bridge to Stability and Resiliency and incentivized goal-setting.  Encourage the participants to form a strong cohort group.  Help organize and lead participant group meetings.  Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of the program.
