Director of Finance and Administration

The Director of Finance and Administration reports to the Executive Director and is a member of the organization’s senior leadership team. She/he is responsible for assuring sound fiscal management of the organization’s resources by:
- maintaining complete, accurate, timely and reliable financial records;
- developing and implementing goals, policies and procedures relating to accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting; and
- partnering with the leadership team and program and department leaders to increase their financial management skills and to support resolving their business issues.
The Director ensures that all accounting, financial reporting, planning, analysis and financial compliance needs of the organization are met, and that the annual budget and audit processes are completed timely and accurately. She/he will supervise and manage the finance staff of accountants, (including Accounting manager and Real Estate Finance Consultant), grant manager, office manager, and payables assistant and will be responsible for human resource activities including employee benefits, retirement plan compliance and reporting, corporate insurance, and related activities.
The position is part-time (24 hours/week).

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter possessing excellent leadership, communication, and technical skills with successful prior management experience and strong ethics. The position requires a minimum of 8 years of comparable nonprofit experience in organizations with diverse public-sector funding and contracts. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required; advanced degree (MSA, MBA, or CPA) is desirable. The Director must be a skilled collaborator across the organization, and be an active contributor to the senior leadership team.
