Teach college level biotechnology curriculum to participants during their academic year which runs from January through August. If you have strong lab skills especially as related to biotechnology and enjoy working with students of diverse academic backgrounds, then this could be the part-time position you've been looking for. This is a 10 – 15 hour per week position with an hourly rate of $70.

 Classroom Component

  •  Teach Chemistry course focused on general, organic, and biochemistry topics relevant to students’ future employment.
  • Prepare specific lesson plans based on established chemistry curriculum
  • Participate in making enhancements to curriculum as necessary
  • Document each lesson’s slides, handouts and homework assignments and share with team
  • Collaborate with other teachers to achieve synergy between courses
  • Maintain accurate records of assignments and assessment data for each student
  • Provide guidance for self-directed learning and provide one-on-one tutoring outside of class
  • Incorporate the use of technology into student work and assessment

 Lab Component

  • Co-teach biotechnology lab with biology teacher
  • Co-manage lab supply inventory and recommend items to purchase
  • Prepare for experiments based on established laboratory curriculum
  • Assist with revisions to the curriculum and associated lesson plans as necessary
  • Document and share each lesson’s slides, handouts and homework assignments
  • Provide biweekly written feedback to students on their performance
  • Maintain accurate records of assignments and assessment data for each student
  • Assist students with entering skills on their resumes
  • Complete documentation and sharing of laboratory curriculum and assessment data 


  •  Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering and a minimum of one year teaching experience, or equivalent
  • Experience teaching adults and familiarity with non-traditional educational models is preferred
  • Experience working in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry or in an academic or clinical laboratory would be strongly favored
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
